Firefighter PPE FAQs
What does firefighter PPE include?
A structural firefighting ensemble includes the turnout coat and pant, helmet, protective hood, gloves and boots. Delta supplies all five elements, plus the SCBA-adjacent accessories, gear bags and station wear that departments buy alongside them.
What is the difference between turnout gear and bunker gear?
They are the same thing. “Turnout gear” and “bunker gear” are both common names for the structural firefighting coat and pant. Delta uses the terms interchangeably.
How often does firefighter PPE need to be cleaned and inspected?
Under NFPA 1850, structural firefighting ensembles require advanced cleaning and advanced inspection at least every 12 months, and after any exposure that warrants it. Departments also perform routine inspection after each use. See turnout gear cleaning and inspection for details.
Does Delta sell non-PFAS turnout gear?
