RagTop Fire Duty Mitts — Structural Firefighting Gloves
RagTop Fire Duty Mitts™ are low-profile structural firefighting gloves built for interior attack. Full kangaroo leather, a double-sewn Kevlar® liner and padded knuckles give you structural protection in a glove shaped close enough to the hand that you keep working in it.
RagTop designed the Fire Duty Mitt around hand function rather than bulk: sculpted fingers taper from knuckle to fingertip the way a hand actually does, and the reinforced liner is built to stay put instead of pulling inside out — which is what lets the glove go back on when it is wet.
Features
- Full kangaroo leather outer shell
- Double-sewn Kevlar® liner, reinforced to resist pulling inside out
- Double-sewn side seams
- Padded knuckles — described by the manufacturer as added thermal protection
- Sculpted, tapered fingers for dexterity
- Reinforced palm and thumb crotch
- Open palm-side wristlet with a gathered elastic wrist and leather gauntlet cuff
- Glove loop included
- Designed for easy donning and doffing when wet
- Breaks in to a closer, hand-conforming fit
Compliance
RagTop states the Fire Duty Mitts are NFPA 1970-2025 Edition compliant. If your specification or grant language still cites NFPA 1971, contact Delta before you write the spec. Manufacturer certification documentation is available on request.
Sizing — order one size down
Fire Duty Mitts fit true to size for an average hand, but RagTop recommends dropping down one size, because the leather expands slightly as the glove breaks in. The correct fit is snug through the palm and comfortable through the fingers.
| NFPA size | RagTop size |
|---|---|
| 64N | 2XS |
| 70N | XS |
| 70W | S |
| 76N | M |
| 76W | L |
| 82N | XL |
| 82W | 2XL |
| 82XW | 3XL |
Cross-reference as published by RagTop. No NFPA equivalent has been published above 3XL — contact Delta for larger sizing and we will confirm with the manufacturer before you order.
Care — hand wash only
Do not clean Fire Duty Mitts in a gear washer or gear extractor, and do not use chlorine bleach or other solvents. RagTop's instructions:
- Hand wash with mild detergent and room-temperature water.
- Squeeze out excess water — do not wring.
- Shape the glove to the hand and air dry.
- Dry fully before storage; store in a cool, dry place.
- Condition occasionally with a balm- or oil-based leather care product.
If your PPE cleaning program batches gloves with turnout gear, pull these out of that process. Ask Delta before sending gloves in for service.
